Broken EmbracesDirector Pedro Almodovar returns with his favourite star, Penelope Cruz, in Broken Embraces, full of Almodovar's trademark sex, passion, betrayal and crazy plot twists. Cruz plays Lena, the personal assistant to millionaire Ernesto (Jose Luis Gomez). She becomes an actress in hit director Mateo's (Lluis Homar) latest film. Mateo soon becomes infatuated with her but tragedy lurks in his future. Out December 26.Nowhere BoyBritish actor Aaron Johnson stars as a young John Lennon in the film about the famed Beatle's youth, inspired by the memoir of Julia Baird, Lennon's half-sister. The future musical icon is torn between his aunt, Mimi (Kristin Scott Thomas), and his mother, Julia (Anne-Marie Duff). He finds escape in the new pop and rock music coming out of the US. Out December 26.Sherlock HolmesIron Man star Robert Downey jnr is a tougher, cooler version of the famed fictional detective in director Guy Ritchie's film. Joined by his sidekick Watson (Jude Law), Holmes must unravel and stop Lord Blackwood's (Mark Strong) plot, which threatens to imperil all of England. Acting from the sidelines is Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams), the only woman to have outwitted Holmes. Out December 26.Old DogsAgeing bachelor Dan (Robin Williams) has his days of carousing cut short when his former wife, Vicki (Kelly Preston), suddenly arrives with a secret €” seven-year-old twins he never knew he had. Dan turns to his friend, Charlie (John Travolta), for help in dealing with the troublesome twosome. Out December 26.Did You Hear About the Morgans?Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant play an estranged couple who witness a murder in New York. Already irritated by each other's presence, they are further put out when they're both stuck in the witness protection program in a small town. Out December 26.Bright StarJohn Keats died at the tender age of 25 but left behind a legacy of wonderful poems, such as Ode on a Grecian Urn. This movie is a fictional account of the secret love affair between Keats and Fanny Brawne (Abbie Cornish). Neither is initially impressed by the other but when Brawne asks Keats to teach her about poetry, their passion is fuelled by Keats's words and romantic sensibility. Out December 26.
